Choosing a new Hot Water System
It is important that your hot water system is suited to your family’s needs. Our Hot Water Service Technician will advise you on the most suitable hot water system for you. If a system is undersized it will not be efficient and equally if it is too large for your needs it will also waste energy.

In these harsh economic times the rising cost of electricity is a factor that must be considered when choosing your next hot water system did you know that the cost of Electricity in NSW has increased by 60% in just a few short years. Now ask yourself this question… Has your family income gone up accordingly enough to cover these and other increased costs?
What can I do to save money?
You can start by installing an energy efficient hot water system.

Did you know that if you have an electric hot water system, heating your hot water accounts for over 60% of your total electricity bill?

There are many new Energy efficient hot water systems to choose from now. Solar, Heat pump and Natural Gas are the most common solutions and we carry a wide range of all these products.
Movement towards Energy Efficient Systems
Once upon a time we would have installed up to 95% Electric and non efficient gas Hot Water Systems but now we find that over 40% of our installations are energy efficient choices such as Solar, Heat pump and Natural Gas.  This is due to both the demand from customers to be able to fit an energy efficient system and from manufacturers offering cheaper and more readily available energy efficient hot water systems.

We hope that in the coming years, there will continue to be a push towards energy efficient hot water systems by both customers and manufacturers.
If I want solar can it be installed same day?
It is not likely that we would be able to install a Solar Hot Water System ‘Same Day’ however  we would not leave a customer without hot water if at all possible.

We will arrange a temporary Hot water system that can be quickly set up to your existing plumbing so that you will be back in hot water, while we arrange for the supply and fitting of your new Solar Hot Water System.

Our team will arrange the Solar Hot water system that you have requested, along with any other special requirements to be delivered, and can usually have your solar installed within 2-3 working days.
Can I still have an electric HWS?
Yes, while there has been the move towards Energy Efficient Hot Water Systems, such as Solar and Heat Pumps, you can still purchase an Electric Hot Water system of your choice.

There are a variety of companies that are still making Electric Hot Water Systems, including; Rheem, Rinnai and Dux.

Please contact us to today to arrange a quote for your choice of Electric Hot Water Systems.
Hot Water Maintenance
Many people don’t realise that all Hot Water Systems require some form of maintenance. Most people don’t think about their Hot water system after the day it was installed until the day the system breaks down.

Did you know that it is possible to double the life span of a storage hot water system just by having a maintenance visit every 5 yrs. The relief valve on a storage hot water system is a vital part of its safe operation. This valve is recommended by the manufacturer to be changed at intervals not exceeding 5 yrs. The valve allows pressure to be release from the unit when it is in it’s heating mode. If this pressure cannot be released the tank is subject to dangerously high pressure and could explode.

Gas storage HWS’s can also benefit from a good clean out every 5 years in. Rust and scale can build up around the burner and ignition components and can hinder performance and even cause malfunction.

The water inlet valves whilst they are hardy if they malfunction can cause problems to the entire water service. A simple check every 5 yrs and replacement on average of 10 yrs is recommended.

All vitreous enamel lined steel hot water cylinders are corrosion protected by a Sacrificial Anode. The concept is that the material the sacrificial anode is made out of will corrode before the properties of the water corrode the steel in the tank. Manufacturers won’t tell you that the anode needs replacing as they only need the tank to last throughout its warranty period (standard is 5 yrs). You can double the life of your heater if you have the anode changed at intervals not exceeding 5 yrs.
